In collaboration with four other associations, SPIL is taking action for the food bank. Everyone deserves a Christmas dinner—join us in helping out! Next week, you can donate food at the SPIL room in Leiden or The Hague. Non-perishable items like flour, pasta sauce, rice, canned goods, and toiletries are especially welcome. 🎄Inzamelingsactie!🎄 In combinatie met vier andere verenigingen komt de SPIL in actie voor de voedselbank. Iedereen wilt met kerstmis een kerstdiner hebben, help daarom nu mee! Je kunt gedurende heel volgende week voedsel inleveren in het hok in Leiden of Den Haag. Lang houdbare producten zoals bloem, pastasaus en rijst, voedsel in blik en toilet artikelen. Friday, December 13, is Purple 💜 Friday. On this day the focus is that no one should be bullied or excluded because of their identity or orientation. To highlight this we are organizing an activity together with our hallway associations at FSW (Emile, Itiwana, and Labyrint). At this activity we will decorate cookies and cakes in the theme of 🏳️‍🌈LGBTQ+ and you can write a message on a post-it. The activity will take place on Friday, December 13, in Leiden from 13:00-16:00. The exact location will be announced further. Remember to wear 💜purple💜!!

Vrijdag 13 december is Paarse 💜 Vrijdag. Op deze dag staat centraal dat niemand gepest of buitengesloten mag worden vanwege zijn identiteit of geaardheid. Om hier bij stil te staan organiseren wij samen met onze gangverenigingen van FSW (Emile, Itiwana, en Labyrint) een activiteit. Bij deze activiteit gaan we koekjes en cakejes versieren in het thema van 🏳️‍🌈LGBTQ+ en kun je een boodschap op een post-it schrijven. We will have the opportunity to discuss the urgent need to rethink the relationship between our economy and democracy. How can we anchor the public good at the heart of our economy? Let’s explore solutions to prevent democratic decline, curb populism, and reduce polarization. Don’t miss it!

Op 26 november heeft SPIL de eer Tuur Elzinga te mogen ontvangen, landelijk voorzitter van de grootste vakbond van ons land (FNV) and voormalig lid van de Eerste Kamer. We hebben de gelegenheid de dringende noodzaak om de relatie tussen onze economie en democratie te heroverwegen. Hoe kunnen we het algemeen maatschappelijk belang verankeren in het hart van onze economie? Laten we oplossingen verkennen om democratische achteruitgang te voorkomen, populisme in te dammen en polarisatie te verminderen. Mis het niet!
